Course Overview
The Livestock Systems, Animal Health & Pastoralism Programme equips participants with the technical, managerial, and policy-oriented skills required to strengthen livestock productivity, improve animal health, and enhance the resilience of pastoral and agro-pastoral systems. The programme addresses growing challenges such as climate variability, rangeland degradation, transboundary animal diseases, market access constraints, and conflicts affecting livestock-dependent livelihoods. The course integrates livestock production systems, veterinary public health, rangeland and pastoral management, and climate-resilient practices. It aligns with Agenda 2063, the SDGs, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), AU–IBAR frameworks, FAO livestock strategies, and national animal health and pastoral development policies. Participants will gain practical experience in livestock system analysis, animal health planning, pastoral risk management, and designing inclusive, market-oriented livestock interventions.
