Course Overview
The International Law & Treaty Drafting Programme provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks, principles, and mechanisms that govern relations between states, regional bodies, and international organisations. The course examines core concepts of public international law, the African Union legal order, treaty-making processes, and the practical skills required to draft, interpret, negotiate, and implement international agreements. Participants will gain hands-on experience in treaty drafting, analysing legal texts, and advising on ratification, domestication, and compliance. Through case studies and simulations based on AU instruments and African regional treaties, the programme prepares professionals to support rule-based governance, advance regional integration, and strengthen Africa’s participation in global legal processes.
